Penrith District Nitro Racing Club
If there is one thing that our world wide site is committed to, It's our sheer determination and promise to be able to cover as many events possible to satisfy all our motoring enthusiasts both here and around the world. So when we were approached by members of the (PDNR Club) to come and cover one of there events we all thought GREAT LETS DO IT!!
Upon our arrival at the regatta we met up with Stephen O'Connor (Vice President) and he introduced us to the masses, about 350 people turn up for the night and about 20 teams were on show. It was great to be able to walk past and see all the pit crews working frantically as they finely turned there machines, there was a menacing aura with some of these Nitro powered cars with my personal favourite the yellow pro tourer with a turbo plug, far from abrading the true ethos of RC racing this little pocket rocket just went up 10 notches in performance to be able to qualify on a national level.
The first race was underway at 7.30pm and all spectators marked there spots to sit down and enjoy the races in fact no matter were you sat the views were always great. To my surprise these Nitro powered cars really do go well on the track unfortunately the track had lost some of it's grip due to the rain over the last couple of days, did not matter as the thrills and spills were plentiful as the races kept coming until 11.30pm, there was a real carnival family atmosphere and the rules and regulations enforced at the premises allowed for a safe and fun environment for every one.
To buy one of these Nitro powered cars will set you back about $600 for a stock standard car or you can go all out with a full race set up from $2,000 to $3,000 and remember that the top of the range cars can travel up to 110km per hour so should you wish to compete on a national level go for the best!!
The showoffyourwheels team had a fantastic night meeting all the drivers, crews and fans of the sport and look forward to seeing you all again in the not so distant future. For all updated results go to the club web site: www.pdnracing.org.au
