The Sydney Torana Club held an annual show and shine event at McDonald's
in Windsor. The cars consisted of mainly Holden Torana's but was also host
to different makes and models including VW, Holden Gemini and Ford. The event's
day was to raise funds for sick kids with Mchappy day being the theme.
There were children's shows and music to enjoy as well as the chance to get up close and personal with a fantastic looking circuit car and NASCAR. The enthusiast's attention was also grabbed by stunning airbrushing on a magnificent VW beetle and also the flaming skull on the Torana.
These two works of art are truly magnificent and the pictures are worth viewing in detail. If there was a holden Torana built it was here today. From LH - Sunbird to LJ - GTR.
The LJ GTR was famous for being a Bathurst winner back in the seventies when car racing was off the production line. A real test of man and machine. Many of the Torana's on display were fitted with V8 engines which were not necessarily born in there however they seem to look the part.
Who knows where the Torana would be if the infamous XU2 was released for production. The XU2 concept car boasted a 308 V8 engine and was the leader in the power to weight stakes of its time. It was a shame it was never released for production.
A fun event with lots to see this year. www.showoffyourwheels.com looks forward to covering next year's event again.
