The largest Australia Day festival in Western Sydney was on again this
year at Rooty Hill. An event put on by Blacktown City Council and Rooty
Hill RSL, it was a great festival that had the perfect weather, a hot summers
day.
There were free amusement rides for the kids, plenty of stalls to occupy
the ladies and a few hotted up vehicles on display for the blokes
too. Its not a festival without music, and there was planty of that with
live performances for the kids and by Aussie rock legends The Choirboys
and Dragon.
On hand was plenty of Aussie muscle cars with Holdens, Fords and motorcycles represented,
along with customised and modified vehicles.
A handful of vehicles
from each of the 10 car clubs was on hand to showcase a good crop
of vehicles. Its said many times throughout our event write ups, but we
must single out the vehicle owners for the efforts in the quality of display.
It keeps our media team honest, as the paint work on these vehicles
was proving hard to photograph/film without appearing in the reflections.
The stand out was the artwork on the VW beetle both on the inside and outside
of the vehicle.
The crowds were pouring into the venue and an order of congratulations
has got to go to Blacktown City Council for its preparation. The parking
was plentiful and easy to get in and out of.
The evening was finished of with a HUGE fireworks display to end a fantastic
day of celebrations. If you haven't been to this event, pack the Esky,
squeeze the family in the car and grab a few mates and head on down for
next years. Happy Australia Day 2008 from the showoff team.
